Getting Started:
What is Fortnite?
Fortnite can be played on various devices so the first thing you will do is choose which device you would like to play it on, mobile, PC, or gaming console. They all come down to the same thing in the end its just a matter of preference. Now you have your device picked so now it's time to learn what Fortnite is, basically a 100 pvp last man standing wins game. In order to do so you will have to learn and practice a couple of things first.
Learning the basics
Drop location, looting, harvesting then building and shooting. That’s the correct order of playing every game from beginning to end. The reason being because if you don’t pick a good spot to land you’ll already be at a disadvantage. Fortnite is a game to play with strategy if you want to win. Next the looting, there is different types of loot floor, vending machines, chests, and supply drops. You always want to carry one heal, and four guns if playing squads, if playing solo carry two heals, and three guns. The building and shooting are more complicated and I’ll go into detail under the
section of " Keystones of your gameplay".
Your mini map is something you constantly have to keep and eye on, it shows the safe zone and how close the storm is to you. The storm can make your best game become the worst if you don't keep track of it, luckily you have a timer under the mini map that notifies you how long before it starts moving in and how much longer before it stops closing in. The first circle takes a way 1 hp every second (hp is your health).

Keystones of your gameplay:
Shooting
Without the building and shooting knowing everything else doesn't matter. This is the glue of everything makes or breaks you. The Right stick you will use to aim around, right thumb is what you will control that with. Left stick to move around you will need to combine these two to make yourself a harder target to hit. Aiming down sight will make your hits more accurate but sometimes you don't have to aim so you have to just point and shoot without aiming. Always aim for the head when doing this it'll do the most damage. Body shots also get the job done but to be on the safe side go for the head.
- Close range- In close range you always want to use a shotgun or sub machine gun.
- Mid range- Automatic rifle is always the go to a scar is definitely what you're looking for.
- Long range- Sniper over anything, heavy sniper or bolt action.

Building
The builds have several different components: Material, type of structure, and time it takes.
Wood, brick, or metal are the items you can farm to build. Stairs, wall, floor, and cone are the builds you can use. every build is placed in two actions, first you select one of the four structures then you place it. Here are the builds you will need to perfect.
- One by One - You will select the wall place four of them around you boxing yourself in then place a ramp inside which you can edit to look in different direction. A cone on the top lets you look around without being exposed to shots.
- 3 layer ramp push - Ramp push a ramp, a floor, and a wall in front of it. It makes a backwards staircase type of protection that makes it hard for them to shoot you down then you shoot at them while they try to shoot you down.
- Water falling - Water falling getting down from high points with walls and floor without taking fall damage. You jump down hold down on wall then look down and press floor. three walls at a time only, more than that gives you damage.
- Turtling - This one is for more competitive games or if you are stuck in a position where more than one team is firing at you. Boxing up in a one by one then editing and going into another box. Best tactic for not getting hit while moving to another point.

Editing
Edits are used to out play the other player, get out of a sticky situation, or just to make a way for you to shoot. If you hold edit on the wall the wall breaks into nine blue squares if you select two of them going from the bottom up you make a door. If you select one of the three in the middle you create a window, you can also have a door and a window at the same time. Below we will go into every edit that can be made and how you can make it.
- Ramp - all tree on one side to cut the ramp in half, same thing then one to the side makes a ramp that curves depending on to which side you turn it. To make the ramp face another way you connect one of the middle boxes to which ever side middle box you want it turned.
- Floor - The floor is one of the two that only has four boxes when you edit. Two on the same side makes a small fence, two opposite corners make a bridge and clearing three makes a small standing point.
- Cone - Edit one side and then you get a peeking point. That is all you can do with a cone.
Thats all there is to it now hop in the game and put everything you've learned to use and get your first of many victory royals. Don't be afraid to use these methods in different ways that's the point of the game to have your own playing style!
